Carling Cup Quarter Finals

There are obviously 4 matches in the Carling Cup this week as the remaining teams try to make the semi finals. Here is how I see the two nights action going.

Blackburn Rovers vs Cardiff City
Cardiff are in better form than their opponents and the two clubs could conceivably swap divisions by the start of next season. Cardiff will want to put in a good performance for the memory of national manager Gary Speed. I predict that Cardiff City will come through this match.

Arsenal vs Manchester City
All City fans will be relishing this match. However with a weekend fixture against Chelsea manager Roberto Mancini will surely rest his first teamers. I think if Arsene Wenger fields a strong enough team then Arsenal have a chance to cause an upset to the money bags of football.

Manchester United vs Crystal Palace
Much will depend on the side that Sir Alex Ferguson sends out. Rumours that Amos, Smalling, Rafael and Pogba should all start for United. Should they not be at the races then Palace have a chance. But a much more likely outcome will be Man United winning.

Chelsea vs Liverpool
Still smarting from the home league defeat recently, Chelsea will be determined to avenge that defeat. Liverpool boss Kenny Dalgleish has already had a moan about fixtures and hasn't said that he won't play a weakened team. I think Chelsea will have a point to prove and that their second team is stronger than Liverpool's. Chelsea to come through.
